First taste of Skylanders

Yesterday I went to my Fiancee’s parents house and her nephew had a bunch of Skylanders. it was my first time seeing them played in person. And I was surprised by the quality of the figures and the game, though rightly kiddie, is actually well made and fun. I was also blown away by the idea of it. I just kept thinking “that’s a smart way to sell figures.” You might think that the way Activision is making their games is cheap and all about the $$$. Yes there are yearly iterations of CoD, and yes Skylanders are coming out every year and the older ones are becoming obsolete, but the fun of the actual games and in Skylander’s case the fun of collecting the figures are there. (I actually stopped playing CoD after World at War, but I can’t deny that others have enjoyed the series.) Skylanders is the real deal and it’s not cheaply made nor are the figures cheap. But after seeing the figures first hand and playing the game I can see why kids and adults are hyped about it.
